Conifers, which dominate Canada’s boreal ecosystem, have genomes that are typically five times larger than the human genome. This seminar will describe recent work on conifer genomes and how their large genomes are related to important aspects of their evolution.

Dr. Sara Brownell | How Active Learning Can Present Challenges for Students with Marginalized Identities

Dr. Brownell’s examines how this work does not call for a return to traditional lecture, but showcases the need to be thoughtful in how we implement active learning in ways that are inclusive across a variety of identifies.
