Central Updates

Open Educational Research Grants

Open Educational Resources are teaching, learning, and research resources that are costless and accessible to share anytime and anywhere. These resources are anything related to supporting access to knowledge and range from course materials to streaming videos.

The OER Grants consist of the OER implementation Grants, which are grants up to $25000 for UBC Vancouver faculty who wish to include OER resources as primary resources in their UBC Vancouver credit courses. The application deadline for this grant is 3pm, Friday, November 25th.

Another OER Grant is the OER Rapid Innovation Grant, which includes grants up to $2000. This grant is available to the UBC Vancouver community for activities related to increasing open educational resource development. The applications for these grants are accepted on a rolling basis until the funds are exhausted.

SoTL Seed Program & SoTL Dissemination Fund

The UBC Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISoTL) and the Centre for Teaching, Learning, & Technology offer a support program for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

The SoTL Seed Program can provide graduate research assistants, collegial support, and complementary funding for projects that seek to research and evaluate impactful pedagogies. Projects are strategically selected to reflect the breadth of work at UBC in terms of disciplines, scholarly approaches, and expertise. The deadline for the SoTL Seed Program is December 20, 2021.

Furthermore, the Provost Office announced last year a new SoTL Dissemination Fund  to support the publishing and dissemination of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning work. The funds are also managed and adjudicated by both the CTLT and the ISoTL, and currently has a rolling deadline.
