Exam Planning

Please note that the summer exam periods are June 23-27 (for term 1 courses), and Aug 12-16 (for term 2 courses). Final exam bookings are managed by UBC Scheduling Services. For more information on exam scheduling, visit the exam website.

To plan for exams, there are different exam formats for instructors to consider, such as in-person paper, computer-based in-person exams, or online via Canvas. You can refer to the following tip-sheets for more details.

Funding Opportunities

SoTL Seed Program

This program provides graduate research assistants, collegial support, and complementary funding for projects that seek to research and evaluate impactful pedagogies.

The SoTL Seed Program is now accepting proposals. The UBC Institute for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISoTL) and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) have partnered to back Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) initiatives

Applications need to be submitted by May 20. Learn more info here.

SoTL Dissemination Fund

The SoTL Dissemination Fund supports the publication of research on teaching and learning in higher education with direct implication for UBC. It is available to instructors from both campuses and may be used for expenses related to presenting or publishing SoTL work.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more and apply.

TA Awards

Congratulations to Melike Karaca Bulut for winning the Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award. This UBC-wide award recognizes an exceptional group of ~20 teaching assistants each year.

Concurrently, and owing to the critical importance of TAs to enhancing the learning environment in the Faculty of Forestry, Melike also receives the prestigious Jordan L. Burke Memorial Award in Forestry for Best TA in Forestry.

Rosalia Jaffray is the runner-up for the Jordan L. Burke Memorial Award in Forestry and receives second place for this award.

Thank you to the adjudication committee for their thorough work, and all the nominators for taking the time to put forward such an exceptional group of graduate teaching assistants.
