Call for Proposals for Emerging Media Lab Projects

Faculty members at UBC Vancouver are invited to submit a proposal to work with the Emerging Media Lab to incorporate technologies (e.g., virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, etc.) into teaching, learning, or research projects. Apply by July 31.

TA Training Program Coordinators

The Faculty of Forestry is looking for 2 motivated graduate students to improve TA orientation and safety training.
These positions are paid and flexible, spanning from August 2023 to June 2024.

UG Labs

Trimble Technology Lab Resource Guide

This guide offers a wealth of resources to support the teaching of practical applications in forestry. It includes a range of software tools for geospatial data processing, and features hardware solutions, such as integrated smartphone data collectors and mixed reality viewers.

PostgreSQL Geodatabase for ArcGIS

A PostgreSQL Geodatabase for ArcGIS Pro files was developed by Dr. Paul Pickell to store and manage geographic information.

Forestry Teaching & Learning Drop-in Sessions

Time: Fridays (11 am – 12 pm) | Online
We host weekly drop-in session to answer teaching related questions. Instructors and TAs are welcome to join the

UBC CTLT Workshop: ChatGPT and Generative AI Prompt-a-thon

Time: July 31 (11:30 am – 2:00 pm) | Online
This session invites faculty, students, and staff to engage in interactive learning about effective prompting in education with generative AI.

UBC CTLT Workshop: Journey into Course Design

Time: Aug 2 & 4 (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) | In-person
This is a two-part in-person workshop, though you can attend only one day. It will introduce 3 stages of course design: reflecting on situational factors, writing learning outcomes and exploring assessment options, and instructional strategies to support learners.
